Dr. Sherwood

Dr. Sherwood grew up in Fayetteville, Arkansas. After graduating from Fayetteville High School she attended the University of Kansas where she enjoyed playing flute in the University of Kansas Wind Ensemble and KU Symphony Orchestra and loved watching Jayhawk basketball. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry in 2014.

While attending dental school at the University of Louisville, Dr. Sherwood was highly active in the American Student Dental Association as an officer and as president of her school’s chapter during her final year. While in Louisville she had the opportunity to travel to Jamaica to provide free dental care to local residents. She graduated Cum Laude in 2018 and received her Doctor of Dental Medicine.

Dr. Sherwood worked in St. Louis, MO for three years as a general dentist. During this time she continued her education with courses in Invisalign and smile makeovers which fueled her passion for cosmetic dentistry. Dr. Sherwood’s favorite aspect of dentistry is giving patients a beautiful, healthy and confident smile! She enjoys getting to know her patients and building relationships to provide a comfortable environment.

She is a member of the American Dental Association, Arkansas State Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, American Academy of Clear Aligners, and Crown Council.

In 2020 Dr. Sherwood got married to her high school sweetheart! They enjoy traveling, backpacking, canoeing and hiking with their sweet Australian Shepherd. They are both huge Arkansas Razorback fans (WPS!) and are very excited to be home and living once again in beautiful Northwest Arkansas!


Dr. Iyamilet Vargas, DDS

Dr. Iyamilet Vargas is a passionate dentist dedicated to transforming lives through the power of a healthy smile. Originally from the Florida Keys, she brings a deep appreciation for community and connection to her practice at River Dental in Fayetteville.

Dr. Vargas pursued her undergraduate studies at Florida Atlantic University, earning a Bachelor of Neuroscience & Behavior. Her journey into dentistry began at Meharry Medical College, where she found her calling amidst rigorous academic challenges and profound personal growth. During her time at dental school, she served as Chaplain, fostering a supportive environment and reinforcing her commitment to service and compassion.

Her favorite part of being a dentist lies in the transformative impact she makes on her patients’ lives—alleviating pain, restoring smiles, and boosting confidence. She approaches dentistry as a blend of science and artistry, continually striving to learn and improve for the benefit of her patients.

Dr. Vargas is actively involved in professional organizations including the Caribbean and African Dental Student Association and the American Dental Association. She has a strong commitment to community service, having spearheaded dental health initiatives in both Spanish and English and provided free care to families and children.

Outside of dentistry, Dr. Vargas enjoys spending time with her husband and their many fish. They are eagerly anticipating the arrival of a new family member. Her unique journey includes auditioning for Xfactor at the age of 14, a testament to her adventurous spirit and love for music.

Dr. Vargas’s journey from Havana, Cuba to the United States on July 4th, 2002, symbolizes her enduring sense of wonder and optimism. She cherishes the memories of arriving in a new country amid fireworks, believing the celebration was in honor of her arrival—a reflection of her vibrant personality and positive outlook on life.
